History

Prelesno gymnasium

Prelesno gymnasium has a long and interesting history and it is connected with the history of the village.

The history of our village begins with the II century. XVIII century In 1768, the retired lieutenant Bantysh received these lands for his military service and founded the Veselu settlement on the right bank of the Suhy Torets river, which later became known as Prelesny. The name of the village confirms that the area where the village was founded is indeed very picturesque. In the 50s of the 19th century. a family estate was built, and in 1770 a church was built on the western outskirts of the village, where a small school operated , where the Dyak taught literacy to several children. The Bantysh family supported the school with their own funds, the students received notebooks, textbooks, and ink.

After the construction of a new school in 1967, a plaque was found with an inscription about the first teacher of the Prelesnian school, Shtikhov Mykhailo Osypovich. From 1790 to 1817 he worked as a teacher until he lost his sight.

It was 1790. and was determined by the year our school was founded.

Busy with work in the farm, not provided with clothes, the children of the poor could not study and remained illiterate. Until 1870, a parish school operated in Prelesny, and in 1883, a two-class school with a five-year term of study was opened, which was maintained with the funds of the landlord economy. Only 100-120 children from the wealthiest families studied here. The spread of literacy was also hampered by the fact that  children did not have the opportunity to study in their native language. In 1909, they created the Zemstvo library, which after 5 years had only 600 books.

In 1923, a medical center was created in Prelesny because half of the villagers were illiterate. In 1925, the elementary school was reorganized into a seven-year school.  At that time, 250 students studied here. It was during this period that the school library was organized and since 1930 the school librarian was Yurchuk G.V. She worked in the school library  until 1958. The library occupied one small room.

In 1936, a secondary school was established on the basis of a seven-year school. In 1937, there were 475 students, and in 1940  -  548 students. During the pre-war years, 120 men graduated from the village ten-year course. Children were taught by 30 teachers.

A prominent person of the school was the mathematics teacher I.D. Zavodovsky. Mr. Bantysh helped him learn to be a teacher and he taught at the Prelesnen School until his death. Buried in the school yard.

The modern school building was built in 1963.  It has 400 seats.

Former teachers of this school, Yu.P. Azarov, A.V. Buledza, and A.O. Kupriyanov defended his candidate theses. From 1947 to 1966  the spouses V.O. Tsarenko worked at the school. and Stasevskyi. They are excellent students of national education of the Ukrainian SSR, and have devoted more than 40 years to their favorite work.

Near the school is a museum of folk life, created by the efforts of former teacher O.I. Shevchenko, as well as an isostudio with a museum of folk art.

Pupils of the Prelesnen school have long been engaged in tourism, studying their native land. A lot of material has been collected about the estate of Mr. Bantysh, the writer H.P. Danilevsky, who lived for some time in the village of To Prelesno, the writers are compatriots.
